On the 2, 4 and 5 lines, the trains’ electronic whine sounds like the beginning of a “West Side Story” song.
Was talking about this with Drunkbrunch last night. She told me about this article. For some, the 2 train (and the 4, 5, N, Q trains) may sing “There’s a Place…” but for me it’ll always be “Dooo Weeeee Ooooooo.”
